Langkawi comprises a group of 99 tropical islands lying off the north-western coast of Peninsular Malaysia, about 30km from Kuala Perlis and 51km from Kuala Kedah on the mainland. The main island is popularly known as Pulau Langkawi. The islands are blessed with an intriguing heritage of fabulous myths and legends of ogres and gigantic birds, warriors and fairy princesses, battles and romance. As a natural paradise, the islands are perhaps unmatched anywhere else in Southeast Asia.

 

 

 

 

Fly into Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), a short drive will take you to a historical city Malacca. "whoever is Lord in Malacca has his hand on the troat of Venice". In Malacca heritage left by the Portuguese, Dutch and the British. At  Malacca you will be impressed by its history, the culture, architectures, antiques and handicrafts.  You will also enjoy verities of local cuisine at the food court located just 5 minutes away from the hotel.    

On day 3 you will depart to Kuala Lumpur a young and and one of the fastest growing city in the world. The nation's capitol is affectionately known as KL to local and foreigners alike. Kuala Lumpur is a vibrant cosmopolitan city and popular venue for a host of prestigious international events. A land of  diverse cultures, friendly people, natural beauty and breathtaking sights. Kuala Lumpur has something for everyone. A chic and stylish area in the heart of the city offering excellent shopping and and great entertainment. Of course you can pay a visit to Chinatown or disproportionate, beautiful mosque beside splendid in colonial style train station.

On day 6  you will leave to the Cameron Highlands. Tucked away serenely amidst the clouds 1,829 metres above sea level is Cameron Highlands, Pahang state's premier hilltop holiday spot. The cool, fresh air on the highlands offers an attractive retreat for city dwellers who want to retreat temporarily from the noise and pollution in the city. The cool, frost free climate is also an ideal and excellent condition for the cultivation of tea. Tea cultivated on Cameron Highlands is among some of the best tea found in the country. Verdant green hillsides planted with young tea plant greet you as you drive slowly up the meandering road to the three townships of Ring Let, Tanah Rata and Brinchang. The fresh mountain air will reveal just how prestige this mountain top gateway is, especially for those who want to unwind and relax amongst the cool serenity of the highlands. First discovered in 1885 by a British surveyor William Cameron, the fame of Cameron Highlands grew during the colonial era when British Planters realised the potential of its fertile mountain slopes for growing tea, then a prized commodity among the colonies. Families of these Britishers stationed in Malaya at the time also took to hills in a respite from the hot, humid tin mines and rubber plantations. Some of the bungalows left behind are still being preserved for viewing by tourist, with a few facilities added for the conveniences of visitors. Since then, Cameron Highlands, with its cool temperate surroundings has developed into a favoured getaway among honeymooning couples as the beauty and tranquility of this captivating plateau has cast its spell of enchantment over locals and visitors alike.

On day 8 depart to Penang. On the way to Penang you will taken to Bukit Merah to the Orang Utan sanctuary where you will be led into a caged tunnel walk that confines you, not the orang utan. From the cage you can the orang utans playing "outside" the cage in the thick forest. after lunch we will proceed to Penang. Before 1786 Penang was covered with jungle. The place was nothing more than a swampy then. Nobody wanted to live on this impenetrable island. Thanks to the English captain Francis Light of the East India Company the island developed quickly. He had chosen Penang as  harbour for ships on their way to China. On that long trip to China, where they got tea and opium, they could get fresh food and water in Penang. The most favourite excursions will take you to the Botanical Garden, the Reclining Buddha, the Kek Lok Si, Butterfly farm, Batik factory, the Snake Temple, Fort Cornwallis, Penang Hill and the Tropical Fruit Farm. In the evening you will be taken to Batu Ferringhi for dinner and shopping at the night market.

Day 10 you get acquainted with the splendid island Langkawi. Langkawi island is an archipelago of 104 islands lying in the north western coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The exact location of these tropical islands is at the site where the Straits of Malacca meets the waters of the Andaman Seas. The largest of these islands is called Langkawi Island and is bigger than the Penang Island.The other islands in this group are Island of Pregnant Maiden (Pulau Dayang Bunting), Lion Island (Pulau Singa Besar) and Beras Basah Island. The smallest of these islands are atolls roughly the size of an ordinary house. This island is unique in the sense that it has so many legend sand myths associated with it. Langkawi Island is therefore also called Pulau Lagenda or Legendary Island. The most talked about legend is that of Mahsuri who is said to have laid a curse on this island for seven generations. Luckily the period of this curse is over now and Langkawi Island is fast becoming an internationally recognised tourist destination. The government of Malaysia has declared the entire Langkawi Island as a duty free zone. Hence this island is also termed Duty Free Island. All goods sold in this island are exempted from government tax. Therefore this Legendary Island is a haven for the shoppers. You only need to stay in Langkawi for a minimum of 48 hours to take back home a reasonable amount of tax free goods. On this island everything is possible where you can chose to excursions such as mangrove forest walk or jungle track in the rain forest. Rent a boat and go island hoping where some of this islands are partly uninhabited. Langkawi is also popular for its delicious sea food and nice discotheques. On day 14 fly back to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
